About me
A Life dedicated to Cybersecurity
Hey there, fellow cyber enthusiast! You’ve found your way to my ‘About’ page, which tells me you’re interested in the human behind these security-centric posts.
Let me satisfy your curiosity.
I’m David Sopas, a Portugal-based cybersecurity enthusiast and professional. My journey into the realm of security began many years ago, driven by a yearning for continuous learning and the thrill of unveiling the unseen. Today, I am proud to be known as a committed security researcher.
As the leader of a highly skilled team of researchers at Checkmarx, I strive to enhance the digital landscape’s security one vulnerability at a time. I also spearhead my own security firm, Char49, as part of my ongoing commitment to this field.
My research and presentations have made their way to prominent security conferences worldwide, including Defcon, hack.lu, BSides Lisbon, and OWASP AppSec EU, among others. I’ve been privileged to see my work create ripples in the cybersecurity community and feature in notable publications like Techcrunch, Softpedia, TheRegister, SecurityWeek, and ThreatPost.
While I haven’t penned a book yet, my research has informed the content of several important works in our field. These include ‘Bug Bounty Hunting Essentials: Quick-paced guide to help white-hat hackers,’ ‘Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing Guide,’ ‘Web Hacking 101,’ and ‘Real-World Bug Hunting.’
To stay updated with my latest professional endeavors, consider following me on Twitter. If our paths cross in person, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. I always enjoy meeting fellow cybersecurity enthusiasts.
Best,
David Sopas
